How many bags am I allowed to bring on a Delta flight?

I have booked a first class flight from STL to Honolulu. I was told by friends that I was allowed to bring up to three checked bags, but, when I checked on Delta.com, I couldn't find an exact answer for the number of checked bags allowed. I am flying to see my husband come home from Iraq and since all of our goods are in storage, I would like to use the extra baggage to bring him clothes and items he needs.
