If you were in the House or Senate and lobbyists donated millions to you would you feel obligated to them?

I imagine that in most cases, there's more rationalization involved. A willingness to listen to your donor's arguments over others, and general tendency to think along the lines of "hey, those guys are good people, I'm sure they have the best interests of the country at heart". Not that I'm excusing such behavior. On the contrary, I think it's all the more insidious if the corrupt are able to believe that what they're doing is perfectly legitimate.
